VDF "Labech" (Red) 2023

Mare Nostrum Vini, a project Inspired by a childhood spent growing up along the mediterranean coast, was founded by Antoine Isenbrandt and Athénaïs de Béru . Each of the wines come from carefully selected vineyards starting in the South of France and expanding across the Mediterranean. The wines all have a common link, each is named after the wind that influences the region from which they come and plays a crucial role in the character that can be discovered in each bottle.

Labech: the westerly wind that blows along the Languedoc-Roussillon coast, running parallel to the shoreline. It’s the favorite wind of sailors, bringing good weather, calm seas, and ideal sailing conditions.

65% Carignan Noir – 35% Piquepoul Blanc

This wine unites grapes from Languedoc (Piquepoul from Pinet) and Roussillon (Carignan from Cuxous), following the ancient Mediterranean tradition of co-fermenting white and red grapes.

Vinification: Grapes are harvested by hand. Carignan is destemmed and macerated in wooden vats over 3 days. This is then pressed with the Picpoul and the juice goes into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine is left to mature in 54l glass Demi-Jons for 12months followed by 6 months in stainless steel before bottling.
