VDF "Labech" (Red) 2023
Mare Nostrum Vini, a project Inspired by a childhood spent growing up along the mediterranean coast, was founded by Antoine Isenbrandt and Athénaïs de Béru . Each of the wines come from carefully selected vineyards starting in the South of France and expanding across the Mediterranean. The wines all have a common link, each is named after the wind that influences the region from which they come and plays a crucial role in the character that can be discovered in each bottle.
Labech: the westerly wind that blows along the Languedoc-Roussillon coast, running parallel to the shoreline. It’s the favorite wind of sailors, bringing good weather, calm seas, and ideal sailing conditions.
65% Carignan Noir – 35% Piquepoul Blanc
This wine unites grapes from Languedoc (Piquepoul from Pinet) and Roussillon (Carignan from Cuxous), following the ancient Mediterranean tradition of co-fermenting white and red grapes.
Vinification: Grapes are harvested by hand. Carignan is destemmed and macerated in wooden vats over 3 days. This is then pressed with the Picpoul and the juice goes into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine is left to mature in 228l old oak barrels for 24months before bottling.
