VDF "Grecale" (White) 2022
Mare Nostrum Vini, a project Inspired by a childhood spent growing up along the mediterranean coast, was founded by Antoine Isenbrandt and Athénaïs de Béru . Each of the wines come from carefully selected vineyards starting in the South of France and expanding across the Mediterranean. The wines all have a common link, each is named after the wind that influences the region from which they come and plays a crucial role in the character that can be discovered in each bottle.
Grecale: a strong, cold, and dry northeast wind, especially in winter. The direction it blows from originates in Greece, evoking the distant roots of our Sicilian winemaking partner.
Terroir: 20 year old vines, 480m altitude, clay-limestone & sand soils.
Vinification: Grapes are harvested by hand and pressed directly using a pneumatic press. The juice is left to settle for 24hours prior to fermentation with native yeast in stainless steel. The wine spends 3 years maturing with it’s fine lees prior to bottling.
