VDF "Duc des Nauves" 2021

Grapes & Vineyard:

Blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The vineyard is biodynamic / organic; it’s a neighbouring parcel to the main Château Le Puy estate, on the same astéries-limestone bedrock, though slightly lower in elevation (~80 m vs ~110 m).

Harvest & Fermentation:

Grapes are destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous (using indigenous yeasts). The maceration period is around 2-3 weeks in concrete vats. Daily pump-overs are used to help extraction.

Ageing:

For about 12 months, in small concrete vats. It’s bottled without filtration. Very low sulfates is added, if any; the wine is natural / minimal intervention. Unfined, unfiltered.
