Rioja Gabaxo 2023
A vibrant, medium-bodied Rioja from Garnacha and Graciano grown across several sites in Rioja Alta, Alavesa and Oriental. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in large-format French oak, Gabaxo is fresh and finely structured, with dark cherry, blackberry and plum fruit, floral notes, peppery spice and a mineral edge. The tannins are firm but polished, leading to a long, savoury and gently spiced finish.
Fermentation: Indigenous yeasts, with whole clusters in concrete vats.
Ageing: 12 months in foudre and 500-litre French oak demi-muids.
Style: Fresh, structured and mineral Rioja with dark fruit, spice and restrained oak.
Tasting notes: Dark cherry, blackberry, plum, lavender, black pepper, clove and earthy mineral notes; medium-bodied with lively acidity, rounded tannins and a persistent savoury finish.
Food pairings: Roast lamb, grilled pork, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses.
