This is a 100% Pinot Noir grown on the gabbro and white and pink quartz soils of Muscadet. Yes a Pinot from the Pays Nantais! Peony and rose on the nose, with cherries and strawberries bursting on the palate. Feels full in the mouth, but sharpened with a vein of acidity. Fine, and elegant, with a lingering, slightly herbaceous finish.

The Story: Maverick Muscadet producer Jérôme Bretaudeau of Domaine de Bellevue is devoted to the compelling terroir of Muscadet, but is known for forging his own path. Jérôme is a true lover of wine, and has set out to grow the grapes he likes to drink. He is a big fan of reds from Burgundy, and set out to make his version on his granite soils. This grape and this style are a true rarity in the Loire and this is one of the wines which has made Jérôme a cult-favourite! His ability to produce these amazing wines from grapes atypical of the region confirms not only his talent, but also that is reputation as a rising star is well-deserved.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and de-stemmed, gently pressed and then aged for 14 months in oak barrels.

Match it with: Grilled salmon or trout, roast pork or goose, or even pasta with mushrooms or a vegetable tian.
