This 100% Pinot Gris skin-contact wine is a somewhere between pink and orange in colour and has a slightly oxidised profile. The grapes are grown on granite soils, giving a racy freshness, slim texture, and depth. Rose and pepper on the nose, then the palate explodes with grapefruit, orange peel and red currant. A subtle, gastronomic wine with a long finish.

The Story: Maverick Muscadet producer Jérôme Bretaudeau of Domaine de Bellevue is devoted to the compelling terroir of Muscadet, but is known for forging his own path. Jérôme is a true lover of wine, and has set out to grow the grapes he likes to drink. He is a big fan of well-made skin contact wines, and has put his amphora to great use in making this macerated Pinot Gris. This grape and this style are a rarity in the Loire and Maceration proves there certainly should be more. Jerome’s ability to produce these amazing wines from grapes atypical of the region confirms not only his talent, but also that is reputation as a rising star is well-deserved.
