This is a blend of 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot from a 1.5 hectare south-facing plot on a gentle slope of granite and pink quartz. The nose has bright flavours of red cherry and cassis, with more stewed red fruits on the palate. A fresh, light style red with a slight chalky note. This was not produced in 2021 due to less-than-ideal conditions. So be sure to stock up on the 2020 to tide you over.

The Story: Maverick Muscadet producer Jérôme Bretaudeau of Domaine de Bellevue is devoted to the compelling terroir of Muscadet, but is known for forging his own path. Jérôme is a true lover of wine, and has set out to grow the grapes he likes to drink. He wanted to make a wine that appealed to the “5 Senses”, and chose to blend these two grapes to make a wine that surprises and satisfies all of the senses.

Vinification: The grapes are all hand harvested, then vinified partly in whole bunches, partly de-stemmed, and layered in the same vessel. Aged in large wood casks for 12 months.

Match it with: Duck confit, roasted pork, grilled lamb. Also great with goat and blue cheeses.
