VDF "Zephyr" (White) 2021
Mare Nostrum Vini, a project Inspired by a childhood spent growing up along the mediterranean coast, was founded by Antoine Isenbrandt and Athénaïs de Béru . Each of the wines come from carefully selected vineyards starting in the South of France and expanding across the Mediterranean. The wines all have a common link, each is named after the wind that influences the region from which they come and plays a crucial role in the character that can be discovered in each bottle.
Zephyr: the marine breeze that forms in summer offshore when the air is warm and the sea is cool, blowing fresh, calming air toward the coast.
Terroir: 50 year old vines, goblet trained, 400m altitude, sand soils
Vinification: Grapes are harvested by hand and pressed directly using a pneumatic press. Fermentation takes place in old 228l barrels followed by 24months ageing with the fine lees before bottling.
