2022 Jurançon Moelleux "Monplaisir" Domaine de Souch is a great introduction to sweet wines made with love. The Manseng grapes have a razor-sharp acidity that balances the sweetness of the late harvest sugars just beautifully.
Located on the first foothills of the Atlantic Pyrenees in the heart of the Bearn – the original homeland of Henry the IV - at an altitude of 332m. The vines are planted on the hillside, facing south and overlooking the Pyrenees and the Pic du Midi d'Ossau. The estate has been under biodynamic management since 1994.
Match it with: This wine is best enjoyed at 12°C to 14°C with local cheese (blue or sheep cheese - ideally from the region!), as an apéritif or with a creamy chicken dish such as a roast chicken & bacon pie, a Bresse Chicken or a slow-cooked leg of lamb. It also makes for the perfect pairing with a classic caramelised Tarte Tatin!
Terroir: Parcels situated 332 meters above sea level. Soils are called Poudingues of Jurançon which are clay with silt and sand soils.
Vinification: Done in stainless steel vats thermo-regulated.
Potential ageing: 10 to 15 years
