A modern expression of Cabernet Franc from a half-hectare single-vineyard. Notes of summer berries, blackcurrant, and a touch of smokiness. Very approachable now, with silky tannins and an elegant finish.

Damien and Coralie Delecheneau, the winemaking team behind La Grange Tiphaine are both musicians and share a love of music almost as deep as their love of wine. Musical references are common in both their names and labels, and the Bécarre, the natural sign, is the symbol used in musical scores to signify to return to origin. Coralie and Damien were unhappy with what Cabernet Franc from the area had become, and they wanted to go back to the beginnings of the grape on their terroir, and create a new expression of it.

Vinification: 15 to 45-year-old Cabernet Franc vines on red clay and limestone. Grapes are hand harvested and de-stemmed before being transferred into concrete tanks and macerated for 3 weeks. The wine is aged for 9 months in old oak barrels.

Match it with: Roasted or grilled red meats, braised duck, hearty vegetable dishes, blue cheeses.
