This is a new single-vineyard cuvée for Anthony– the 2022 is only the second release. A 100% Gamay from the Beaujolais Cru of Morgon. Red cherry, cranberry and hints of black pepper with lots of structure and fine tannins. A top-quality Beaujolais that is the perfect partner to a burger! Best served slightly chilled.

Anthony Thévenet is of the rising stars of Beaujolais, and his wines are gathering global acclaim from even those usually skeptical of the region. Anthony’s wines are made from both family plots he owns and rented plots he that he finds interesting. This wine is made from a new plot, located the closest to his home of all his vines. It has different soils than most Morgon vineyards– with mostly clay and very little sand. This switch from the usual granite terroir gives the wines more fruit flavours and a less floral quality.

Vinification: Vines grown on sandy and crumbly rock soils. Grapes are hand-harvested, and undergo whole bunch carbonic maceration with no sulphites or yeasts added. Fermentation for 10 to 15 days in controlled temperature vats with no lees stirring and total malolactic fermentation. Aged for 6-7 months in concrete vats. There is no fining or filtration.

Match it with: Roasted pork, vegetable terrines, a classic burger.
