This Palistorti bianco from Tenuta di Valgiano is predominantly Trebbiano, with some Vermentino, Malvasia and Grechetto. 10% cent of the Vermentino is fermented in barriques and the remainder in stainless steel at 10° C to preserve the intense and fruity aroma with a hint of pink grapefruit and lychees. While the two hours of skin contact give a little more character to the Trebbiano.

It is pleasantly fresh on the palate and the acidity is balanced by a considerable body. A warm, harmonious wine with ample aftertaste. A structured white in Mediterranean style, but with aromatic dignity and exceptional quality.

Match it with: Laura recommends pairing this wine with anchovies’ bread and butter.

Terroir: The vineyard lies on a very rocky soil where it's actually quite difficult to plant a post straight into the ground. Because of the really hard rocks on the surface, one has to push the post at an angle as soon as the post hits one of them. The locals have taken the habit of calling this vineyard ‘palistorti’ (which means "crooked post").

Age of the vines: 15 to 20 years old

Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested // 2 hours of skin contact // the grapes are pressed and matured in stainless steel vats // depending on the vintage, there is a bit of Vermentino that can be aged in old oak barrels.
