This cuvée from Terre de L'Elu is a unique blend of 50% Cabernet Franc 50%, 35% Gamay, and 15% Grolleau. It has a subtle bouquet but is a veritable explosion of red fruits on the palate. Light, spicy notes and fine tannins. A delicate and supple wine. Serve around 15°C.
Story: The winemakers, Thomas and Charlotte Carsin, are avid sailors and their love of the sea often influences their winemaking and naming. With Maupiti, they were inspired by the languor of oceans. Thomas describes this wine as, “A concentration of finesse and tenderness… that one approaches like stepping onto a peaceful, mysterious island and wants to explore.”
Vinification: Grapes from 20 to 45 year-old vines on Schist and Quartz parcels. Hand-harvested, and whole bunch infused. Natural fermentation in stainless steel, then aged 10 to 12 months in 40hl wood conical vats. Sulphites less than 50mg/L.
Match it with: A tartar of red tuna or beef cooked with olive oil and lemon; or simply with some shavings of Pata Negra Bellota ham.
