Made by: Domaine Josmeyer

The nose is original because of the maceration of the whole bunch, which gives vigour and a slightly rustic side. We find aromas of fresh root vegetables and flowers. The palate is powerful and tannic with a spicy structure of ginger and rosewood and a very long length!

"Gleaming pale copper colour. Fabulous and complex aroma of bitter orange, apricot, rose petal but without the impression of sweetness. On the palate, the variety’s rose petals dominate but that orange/apricot flavour is there too, as well as spice (Josmeyer suggest ginger and they are spot on), all this perfume counterbalanced by the moderately tannic texture, which itself is rounded out by those few grams of residual sugar. Fresh thanks to the texture as much as to the variety’s moderate acidity. Long, textured finish. A wine to sip throughout the evening – it is not so tannic that you couldn’t drink it on its own. Rose-scented aftertaste." - 17 points - Julia Harding for JancisRobinson.com

Terroir: The majority of the grapes come from a parcel of Gewürztraminer planted on the granite soils of the Grand Cru Brand site. The remaining grapes come from old vines on gravel soils located in Wintzenheim.

Age of the vines: 15 years

Vinification: A third of the grapes are kept as whole-bunch // crushed enthusiastically with our feet //  destemmed 2/3 of the remaining grapes // macerate the whole lot for almost a month in a stainless steel tank // devatting took place one month later // followed by rough filtration at the very beginning of January // after ageing for around four months on fine lees // the wine was bottled on March 24, 2021.
