Isabelle uses a red-berried variant of Sylvaner that gives a very different wine - "peau rouge" means “red skin,” and is a reference to the presence of the rare red-berried Sylvaner in the blend.

Terroir: Rotenberg is north facing slopes on the Grand Cru "Hengst" terroir. Which has a high concentration of iron.

Age of the vines: 60 years old

Vinification: The grapes were handpicked and whole-bunch pressed very slowly and gently in pneumatic presses over 5-8 hours // natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts // aged in stainless steel or big oak barrel depending on the vintage.
