A 100% Gamay from the Beaujolais Cru of Morgon. Flavours of cranberry, dark cherry and red plum, with slight earthiness and hint of leather. Firm tannins balanced with acidity. The perfect pizza wine!

Anthony Thévenet is of the rising stars of Beaujolais, and his wines are gathering global acclaim from even those usually skeptical of the region. The grapes from this wine are mostly from the northern part of Morgon, between the famous hill of Côte de Py and the village of Fleurie. There are a few spots of the typical granite, but most of the vineyards are coarse beach-like sandy soils, resulting on elegant, subtle wines with great length and complexity from the very old vines.

Vinification: Combines grapes from two parcels– one more than 100 years-old the other 80 years-old. Both have sandy, crumbly granite soils. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo whole bunch carbonic maceration with no sulphites or yeasts added. Fermentation for 10 to 20 days in controlled temperature vats with no lees stirring and total malolactic fermentation. Aged for 7-8 months in old oak barrels. There is no fining or filtration.

Match it with: Korean BBQ, pizza, smoked meats.
