A rare 100% Cabernet Franc from the Cahors region. Bramble, black fruit, herbs and slight green notes. Have a passion for CF, the dimension and texture. Bought 3ha parcel with 30 year-old vines 25km away. (were used to make rosé!). 2.5 is for this and .5 for Siderolithe.

Story: Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve are leading a renaissance of the Cahors region. They share a vision of refined, elegant wines with a distinct personality. The duo have a real passion for Cabernet Franc and the dimension and texture of its wines. The grapes come from 47 year-old vines planted on clay and limestone soils in Quercy, just outside Cahors. This soil here is the same as in Chinon, the famous Cabernet Franc centre of the Loire Valley. Carmenet is the name for Cabernet Franc in old French.

Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested. The wine is naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts in a cement tank, and then aged in old barrels. Unfined and Unfiltered.

Match it with: Lamb with mint, Duck confit, strong Cheeses.
