The perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. This wine is a “Moelleux” which is a sweet wine, with around 95g of residual sugar. It is made only in years where the grapes ripen so fully on the vine they can provide the needed sweetness. The 2018 vintage was hot and sunny, which results in a full and rich wine. This wine has evolved a little since bottling, and is full and rich on the palate, with dried apricot, candied fruits and nuts accompanied by sharp acidity and a full body. Best when opened a bit before serving.

Story: Damien and Coralie Delecheneau, the winemaking team behind La Grange Tiphaine, have played a pivotal role in the revival of quality wines from the Touraine. L’Equilibriste is the domaines’ sweetest wine, with a perfect balance of  sweetness and acidity that highlights the why exceptional sweet Chenins are among the finest dessert wines in the world.

Vinification: 80-year-old Chenin vines on clay-flint and limestone soils.

Grapes are hand harvested in multiple passes and sorted on-site. Grapes are gently pressed and half of the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, the other half in old barrels, both for 8 months. The wine is not racked to keep the maximum freshness of aromas.

Match it with: Fois gras, tarte tatin or other carmelised dessert, rich cheeses.
