A 100% Friulano that explodes with ripe orange and citrus peel, orange blossom, floral and honey. Undertones of fig and pomegranate with earthy mushroom notes on the finish. A rich but delicate wine with a smooth but notable texture.

Story: In a tiny village in the far northeast corner of Italy, Saša Radikon produces arguably the finest skin-contact wines in the world. Saša is revered around the world as a pioneer and absolute master of macerated wines. Recent changes in wine regulations meant that growers could no longer use the name of this grape, Tocai Friulano (or Tokaj to the locals), so Saša flipped the letters around and Jakot was born. Friulano is a semi-aromatic grape with more flavours close to the skin, so the long maceration extracts quite an array of intense flavours.

Vinification: Grapes are carefully chosen, hand-harvested and gently crushed. The juice is left to macerate on the skins for 2-4 months in oak vats. The grapes are then co-fermented in oak with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 36 months in large 25/35hl oak casks, then it is bottled and aged for a further 18 months before release. No added sulphur.

Match it with: Asparagus with prosciutto and eggs. Charcuterie and hard cheeses.
