A 100% Chardonnay with notes of stone fruit, honey and hazelnut. Creamy, with a touch of mineral and vanilla and a lingering finish. Excellent value and versatility.

Emmanuel Giboulot comes from a long legacy of organic viticulture, and remains one of its greatest advocates in Burgundy today. He has four decades of experience in crafting the finest quality wines from a variety of terroir.

The vineyards of La Grande Châtelaine are located in the mid-slopes of the Montagne de Beaune, the heart of the tiny appellation Côtes de Beaune (not to be confused with the vast Côtes de Beaune Villages). The parcel takes its name from a reference in medieval sharecropping contract– “le grand de cheptel”.

Vinification: Chardonnay vines grown on clay and limestone soils with some rocks. Grapes are hand-harvested and are gently pressed using a manual press. No sulphites or yeasts added. Fermentation in traditional oak casks, grapes undergo malolactic fermentation, then are aged in old oak barrels for 12 months, with no lees stirring to avoid oxidation.

Match it with: Lobster, white fish with butter sauce, bouillabaisse.
