A blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes that are macerated on the skins for up to 4 months. The result is a cloudy, deep orange wine with notes of peach, nectarine, citrus peel, honey and dried herbs, with a touch of brioche. The Sauvignon gives the herby, reductive flavours and the stone fruits come from the Chardonnay. Lots of body, light tannins and a long, nutty finish.

Story: In a tiny village in the far northeast corner of Italy, Saša Radikon produces arguably the finest skin-contact wines in the world. Saša is revered around the world as a pioneer and absolute master of macerated wines. Saša says this wine is both the past and the future of wine, as it uses an ancient winemaking method for grapes new to the region, grown in the local terroir. It is named after the tiny village where the winery is based.

Vinification: Grapes are carefully chosen, hand-harvested and gently crushed. The juice is left to macerate on the skins for 2-4 months in oak vats. The grapes are then co-fermented in oak with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 36 months in large 25/35hl oak casks, then it is bottled and aged for a further 18 months before release. No added sulphur.

Match it with: Mature hard cheeses, cured meats, creamy polenta, buttery fish dishes.
