Assyrtiko

This prominent Greek white grape can be used to make both dry and sweet wines and was first cultivated on the southern island of Santorini, where it continues to dominate. Unlike most Mediterranean varieties, Assyrtiko produces wines that are high in both acidity and alcohol. It grows well in various environments and can resist most diseases. It generally has strong minerality with powerful citrus notes.
