Julien Courtois

Julien’s passion for wine was born when he started learning how to run a vineyard and how to make wine with his father Claude. He created his own vineyard "Le Clos de la Bruyère" in Soings en Sologne in 1998. Julien now runs the 4.5 hectares domaine with his girlfriend Heidi Kuka. It is her who designs the beautiful and unique labels for the wine bottles. Julien and Heidi work with  seven different grape varieties.

Like his father, Julien’s objective has always been to make wines from low yields vineyards in order to reach optimal concentration. He works in close relation with natural cycles and waits for perfect maturity to harvest the grapes. Treatments are made using plant-based mixtures (nettle, horsetail, etc.). The whole domaine is harvested by hand.

Julien explains: “We make wines that are different, natural and rich from the values provided by a sane wine-making process. Whether in the vineyards or in the caves, wines are made without  any chemical  products, which gives them a unique and singular taste!”
